This project aims to reinforce the area as the design employment centre for the city of Vancouver. Sited at the Sen̓ákw south gateway of fir and West 4th, and adjacent to the future Fir Street Streetcar Station, this building will be among the first in an exciting new future for the Burrard Slopes.
Already the home of many established interior suppliers and manufacturers as well as designers, architects, and engineers, this proposal will create much-needed new creative and industrial boutique workspaces in a modern, design-forward space.
The proposal’s façade is made of a composite wall system combing an architectural mesh and window-wall construction. The facade utilizes a metallic mesh panel as a brise soleil, providing passive shading and privacy from the bridgehead offramp. Its metallic finish harkens to the industrial heritage of the Armoury District.
